Retail Development

With over 1 million people within a 45-minute drive, Morristown has long been a regional hub for retail and commercial activity.  From the shopping centers west of town, to the renewing downtown shopping district, to the retail hub on the East side of town, shoppers find a sophisticated retail market that caters to different needs and likes.

The largest retail center in the area is College Square Mall.  This indoor regional mall features Belk, Kohl’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods and more than 50 specialty shops, as well as several restaurants and AMC College Square 12 movie theater.  It is the only mall in the 8-county area of Upper East Tennessee and is located at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 25E and U.S. Hwy 11E.  Other developments have benefited by locating within close proximity to College Square Mall in this area of the community.

Historic Downtown Morristown not only serves as a central business district but also features locally owned specialty shops and restaurants.  Featuring the Downtown Skymart, a unique second-level sidewalk system, a seasonal Farmers Market, and renovated apartment & condo spaces, Downtown Morristown is thriving and constantly buzzing with activity.

While the east side of Morristown has seen much development over the years, the west side of town is no stranger to commercial & retail progress.  U.S. Hwy. 11E, a main artery into and through town, as well as the newly constructed SR 66 connecting this area to Interstate 81, provides convenient access to those establishments along the route.  Several new complexes have been developed to expand retail, restaurant and service sector offerings.

Whether you are looking for a small shop downtown, a space next to a busy grocery store or a location near the interstate, Morristown has a place for you to be successful.  New developments to consider include:  Cherokee Crossing, the Downs at Wallace Farms, Masengill Springs, Merchants Greene, or Popkin Town Centre.  Visit the Sites & Buildings page to search for available commercial property in these areas.
