Colortech to Expand

February 18, 2018 – Colortech, Inc. announced plans to expand its Morristown operations this week.  This project will add an additional 44,000 square feet to their facility at 5712 Commerce Blvd.

“Colortech has successfully grown our business, thanks to the hard work and dedicated associates and our business partners,” Alex Rom-Roginski said in making the announcement.  “Once again we are at a level that requires additional capacity.  Since our initial investment in the Morristown Airport Industrial District in 1986, the continued strong support from the State and local governments is a key reason why we can continue to grow and expand,”  he continued.

Currently, Colortech, Inc. employs 210 people in their two facilities in MAID.  It is anticipated that the expansion will create approximately 25 new jobs.

R. Jack Fishman, Chairman of the Industrial Development Board in congratulating the company, indicated that the company has almost been in an expansion mode since the selection of their site in Morristown.  “The color and additive concentrates produced by the company for the plastics industry is used in a wide range of products and is an excellent diversification of our manufacturing base,” Fishman said.  “A major part of the continued growth of our community comes from the local industry expanding.”

Colortech’s products are used for everyday consumer items such as food packaging, grocery bags and toys to industrial materials used in various sectors.  It is estimated that 100 million people come in contact with these various items each day.

The company was headquartered in Brampton, Ontario (Canada) when it decided to locate here and still operates that facility to serve North America.  The firm was purchased by Polyplast Muller Group in Germany in the mid 80’s and serves Europe, the Middle East And Asia from the German location.

The expansion is to begin shortly and the building is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.  Equipment will be installed in 2019 and production will begin.

Officials of the company indicated that this expansion is actually phase one and overall expenditures are estimated at $11 to $12 million.  The size of the building can accommodate additional productions lines when needed.

Colortech, Inc. is a member of the Polyplast Muller Group headquartered in Straelan, Germany.  This group is a global supplier of concentrates and compounds at five locations in Germany and North America with over 650 employees.
